New at the E.B.I.F.: Business Solutions Forum Brings Together Theory and Practice!

FRANKFURT, Germany, June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- This year, the European Banking & Insurance Fair (E.B.I.F) celebrates its tenth anniversary with a new concept. The European technology trade fair for banks and insurance companies, which takes place in Frankfurt from 20 to 22 November 2007, aims to further increase the international and hands-on character of the trade fair.

In cooperation with the Maleki Group, organisers of the Euro Finance Week, the E.B.I.F. 2007 will feature the "Business Solutions Forum" for the very first time. Theory and practice will come together on this forum, with well-known IT providers presenting concrete best practice solutions together with their customers from banks and insurance companies. As the focal point of the event, the Business Solutions Forum offers interested trade visitors the opportunity to find out about financial IT questions such as Business Intelligence, MiFID or combating money laundering. A number of individual case studies will be presented, and exhibitors will showcase their own IT solutions to these questions at demonstration points.

Thomas Schütz, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen and organiser of the E.B.I.F explains: "The Business Solutions Forum will be the main focus of the E.B.I.F. While Euro Finance Week concentrates primarily on financial issues, here at the E.B.I.F. we take more of a hands-on approach - using real, working examples. Other trade fairs are only now beginning to concentrate on trade visitors and congresses - something that we have been doing for years. With the Business Solutions Forum, we are going one step further."

The IT sector cannot complain about a lack of demand at the moment: according to the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM), some 78% of high-tech companies can expect higher sales in 2007 than in the previous year. Findings from a BITKOM survey indicate that providers of software and IT services in particular have reason to be optimistic, with 82% to 84% of companies likely to increase their sales this year. Accordingly, the association confirmed its growth forecasts for the German market for IT, telecommunications and digital consumer electronics in 2007: 2.0% to EUR149.1 billion.

62.5% of the IT purchasing managers in German banks of different sizes surveyed as part of the E.B.I.F. purchasing barometer stated that they planned to make high or very high investments in IT over the next twelve months. When the first wave of the survey was conducted in October 2006, only 47% of the thirteen IT purchasing managers intended to do so at that point. This means that demand from banks for new IT solutions will also continue to grow in future. "This year, standardisation in the insurance sector and suitable IT solutions for this will be another important area of focus at this year's E.B.I.F.", adds Dr. Nader Maleki, CEO of the Maleki Group.

More than 7,000 international users and decision-makers from financial and insurance institutions are expected, along with some 250 exhibitors, making this event Europe's largest independent technology trade fair for the banking and insurance sector. This year, the E.B.I.F. will once again be taking place within the framework of Euro Finance Week, the high-powered industry gathering of the European finance and insurance sectors in one of Europe's most important financial centres.
